Messy Painters!

I was looking at my friend Carly's blog and saw pictures of her kids painting and they looked like they were having so much fun. We have an art desk for Alex but now that Evan is older he wants to do whatever his big brother is doing. They wouldn't be able to color together at the art desk. So... I found gift cards we had from Christmas and Valentine's Day and I took the boys to ToysRUs. We stocked up on paints and paper and an easel!!
after naps we put together the easel and started painting
Evan was good about keeping the paints on the paper for awhile
painters very hard at work
Ooops..... Alex said "mommy, Evan is so messy"
Abby came over a few days after we got the easel and they told her they wanted to paint her a picture
Abby helping Evan with his masterpiece
Alex was so proud of his picture
I bought the boys smocks a long time ago and they really wanted to wear them
Alex and Evan were so happy to see Aunt Abby. They missed her while we were in San Diego.

SAN DIEGO 2011

It was time for our annual trip to San Diego. We have been going there every year since we moved here almost 9 years ago and we love it there!! Wes and I started going together and then we took Autzen with us and now we go as a family!! I hope to carry on this tradition for many years to come!! Many thanks to our friend, Mark, who let us use his house in Carlsbad for the week..
All packed and ready to go
Wes looks thrilled to be driving for 6 hours haha!
We asked Alex where he wanted to go on our first day and he chose Legoland! This wasn't a surprise since he loves it there!
Welcome to Legoland
Our first stop.... a boat ride at Fairy Tale Brook
Last year Evan was 9 months old when we went so it was amazing to see how much different he was this year. He loved the boat ride! His face was priceless.... that is why I love this picture!
Jack and Jill go up the hill
Alex watching the 3 little pigs
this area may be Alex's favorite place in the park. He had fun getting the water in the frogs mouth
there are pads around this area for the kids to jump on and when they do it makes music
the boys were jumping and dancing.... so cute!
Alex and Evan (in the background)
Mommy took the boys on the train ride in the play area
Now that Evan is bigger he can enjoy Legoland too
my boys having fun..... makes mommy smile!
this is a picture of Alex is 2009
and this is Evan in 2011 at the same spot
Evan adores his big brother
daddy must have an important phone call to make on the helicopter
Alex won a pirate duck playing this game. He played again and won a duck for Evan too!! Daddy may have encouraged him to play this game to win some Ducks ...ha ha!
looks like Alex beat Daddy going down the slide
Alex and his favorite elephant
Daddy helping the boys dig for dinosaurs
Alex is still too young to ride on some of the rides but he was tall enough to ride this roller coaster. You can see Wes in the last car of the coaster. Alex got off the ride and couldn't wait to ride again
......so mommy stood in line with Alex for another ride on the roller coater. We are in the second to last car... see us??
Alex in front of the Star Wars sculpture made out of sand
after we walk through the park we went to the SeaLife aquarium
Mommy... can you see me?
"look at all these fish!!"
Evan is talking more and more each day and I'm not sure how he learned that this was Sponge Bob but when he saw him he kept saying "Bob Bob Bob!"
keeping busy playing with the ipads Evan has learned how to use it too. Maybe they can teach me?
Evan is growing up so fast!! I can't believe my little boy is going to be 2!

SeaWorld

On Tuesday we went to SeaWorld. I know the boys love Legoland but I love SeaWorld. Alex was so excited to see dolphins and whales.
the boys in front of the Shamu car
Alex won this big dolphin all by himself
Daddy and the boys with Shamu
the new and improved dolphin show
we weren't sure if Evan would sit still through the show and he proved us wrong! His eyes were glued to the dolphins
it still amazes me how the dolphins do all their tricks
after the show Evan fell asleep so I took Alex to see the polar bears. We were lucky enough to see them for a minute before they went into their cave
in the polar bear cave
"look at all these whales"
Getting ready to ride on Abby's Sea Star Spin....not a good idea after lunch
I just love when they are sweet to each other
waiting in line for Elmo's Flying Fish
Sweet baby Eban
SeaWorld has a Sesame Street area and there are times that you can meet the characters. Evan couldn't believe that he was going to meet "Melmo" He went right over to him and gave him a big hug!!
Daddy and the boys with Elmo and Big Bird
Evan was so happy to run around
Our final stop of the day is the water pad.. they got soaked but loved every minute of it!!
I think this was the best part of their day
having so much fun!
we went home and took the kids to the park in the neighborhood before bedtime
my little monkey
watch out.... daddy's turn to go down the slide
I'm going to get you daddy!
Poor Evan's cheeks got burnt
we love this park mommy
keeping busy with some coloring
